I have a winter baby and a summer baby so we don't discriminate against the seasons! Winter for us is about family - fresh nappies, puddle suits and bobble hats donned, snacks packed (the kind that make mittens sticky - coz they taste better!), dogs on leads then it's adventure time! Chasing pigeons, splashing in the muddies of puddles, searching for fairies, vast selections of sticks, rocks and dirty leaves put safely in the buggy for later. Then home to sort through our natural craft supplies and snuggles before nap time. Bliss!

@Holla: Great activities 🥰

We love wrapping up warm and going in the pram for long wintery walks then going on the swings at the end

Well this was our first winter, so we went to the lanterns at Chester Zoo and have had lots of crisp walks!

Amaksy Verified 01/02/2022 - 04:33

With the weather being cold it’ll be an indoor game and fun so some carts or snuggling up to a movie. If the weather permits we can walk around the park and stopping at the playground for some swings and slides.

Our favourite indoor activity is bake some nice lovely treats and then watch some nice kids movie together in cost blankets . We also love snuggling up the little ones and going out for a walk in the park if the weathers good enough to get some nice fresh air and also we do art and crafts activities which my little ones loves .

Dorina Verified 01/02/2022 - 13:24

Showing my 14 month old the snow and seeing her reaction. It was snowing pretty heavy and I got her dressed and took her into the garden and watch her try and catch and eat the snow was perfect, I can't describe the feeling, all I can say was I was smiling for days and even writing this I am smiling now 😊

Dorina Verified 01/02/2022 - 13:26

@Jazzy0jayne101: In a few years you're going to have big snowball battles 💕

We love doing crafty activities indoors during the winter, we make playdough, salt dough and we especially love messy play in gloop.
Gloop is just cornflour and water in a large tub and washes straight off. Salt dough we make xmas decorations with it or keepsakes for birthdays and mothers day ect... and the playdough we use an old saucepan to make this and it normally last around a couple weeks and it's so much cheaper than buying from the shop.

Dorina Verified 01/02/2022 - 13:28

@Misstull: Messy games are the best games 😍

For the big kids there’s only one thing for it, mummy’s magic hot chocolate with marshmallows, squirty cream and chocolate sprinkles 😊 For the little ones a nice bottle of warm milk snuggled up in fluffy blankets for mummy and daddy cuddles 🥰

We make fake indoor snow using cornflower, bicarbonate of soda and water! Our little girl loves it! And then we provide cookie cutters to make snow shapes. Great for sensory play and exploring new textures. To make your own ...

You will need
Tray or bowl
Cornflour
Bicarbonate of soda
Water

Method

1. In a bowl, mix together equal quantities of cornflour and bicarbonate of soda. With this simple 1:1 ratio, you’ll be able to make as much or as little fake snow as you like. We started with 250g cornflour and 250g bicarbonate of soda.

2. Once combined, gradually introduce a very small amount of water into the bowl and mix together with your hands. Add a little more water – just a few drops at a time – until you reach a good consistency.

3. Stop adding water when the mixture starts to hold its own shape, but crumbles when pressed (like snow). We used just 1½ tbsp water in total for the amounts above.

4. Now you’re ready to play!

On wintry days, we like to wrap up warm and head to the park or outside for a jolly walk. My 3 1/2 year old and 10 month old love the swings. We love puddle jumping like Peppa Pig.
If it’s a bit too wet we like to stay inside in the warmth and get the Play-Doh out or our new favourite are ‘squishy‘s’ which you mould into anything you like, they then dry soft but bendy and hold the shape and design you made.
My daughter who is 3 1/2 and I love baking together and can usually be found baking banana muffins or gingerbread men.
We also just love the kind of wintry day where we snuggle under a duvet on the sofa and watch frozen.

kater2912 Verified 01/02/2022 - 10:51

On cold winter days we like to get wrapped up in our pram and go for a walk to the park! We take our big brother with us and he makes us laugh doing silly things along the way. We have a little go on the swings (if the seats not too wet) then head to our local playgroup where we have fun playing with our friends and different toys to what we have at home 🤗 we have just bought a sledge so fingers crossed for some snow soon 🤞🏼

ii_marrie Verified 01/02/2022 - 10:55

We love snuggling up with our feet up, pampers nappie on, hot coco and milk in on hand all wrapped up in a warm cosy blanket watching cartoons and eating yummy snacks on cold wintery days.

Emilywoollett Verified 01/02/2022 - 10:59

Recently me and Ruby have been taking walks round the park while taking our favourite doggy (my Nan’s dog Poppy) for a walk ❤️ Tested Ruby out on the swings for the first time but she wasn’t overly keen. Maybe when she’s a bit older x

Den building! Little ones love it, and it's a chance to play peekaboo, get close and snuggled up, or play around, with tickles and giggles. They also love it because you are down at their level too. It's free and easy to do! My favourite is to pop a blanket over a couple of chairs, but you could use cardboard boxes, string lights for decor, and even pop some books in and use a den as a reading nook. Then quickly tidy away when it's nap time.

Vickyj • 01/02/2022 - 11:02

When it's wet and cold outside we like to get some pegs, blankets and some chairs and make a den! We bring in some books, toys and snacks and have fun under the canopy! We also have a little disco light which we put inside to make it extra special!

Beth.gardham Verified 01/02/2022 - 11:51

my favourite winter activity is wrapping up warm & simply taking the boys on a walk to our local waking spot. There’s a lovely lake where we can feed the ducks, and play area for our toddler to play. Love the fresh brisk air and being with nature ❤️

Cgls • 01/02/2022 - 12:14

We love going puddle jumping on rainy days followed by some hot chocolate.
