How to capture the perfect nighttime sleep photo of your baby

Every parent knows those precious moments when your little one is peacefully sleeping—and now, Squaddies have the chance to make their baby a sleepy star in an official Pampers campaign! 🌙✨ To help you snap the winning shot, we’ve put together some top tips for capturing cosy, dreamy nighttime photos.

Babies sleeping

  1. Make the baby the star

Keep the focus on your little one. No siblings, pets, or other distractions in the frame. Your baby’s peaceful face should be the heart of the photo.

  2. Keep it simple and safe

Avoid blankets, toys, or props—safety comes first. A minimal background works best. Plain sheets or a simple crib setup help the baby’s cuteness shine.

  3. Light it right

Even though it’s a nighttime shot, you need a light source so the camera can capture details. Soft, natural light from a night lamp works beautifully. Avoid harsh or direct light that can disturb your baby’s sleep.

If your phone has a “night mode,” turn it on. It helps brighten the photo while keeping the mood cosy.

  4. Choose the right camera settings

    • Use a smartphone with at least a 48MP camera if possible.
    • High-resolution is a must—aim for photos 2MB or larger. Some phones have settings to increase photo quality.
    • Choose the right settings (if using manual/pro mode)
📸 ISO: 400–800 for low light; higher values make the image brighter but can add noise.
📸 Shutter speed: 1/60 or faster to avoid blur if handheld.
📸 White balance: Set to warm or incandescent for cosy vibes.
  5. Stabilize your camera

Low light can make photos blurry. Use a tripod, or steady your phone on a table or crib edge.
If you must hold the camera, keep your elbows close to your body for extra stability.
